Need some info/help

Hi,

 

I have been getting pretty high CPU temps around 75c and sometimes a tad higher on games like PUBG on low settings, I currently am using a Corsair H100X AIO cooler and it was pretty good until I brought some new ram and turned on XMP profile. Someone told me to disable MCE for better results as im worried to play long periods (I play extremely long gaming sessions like a unhealthy amount) though I have no clue in what that is and where to find it on the Asus prime-z370-a bios (asus bios) and if I do would that just be it and id gain less temps for my cpu. Im a noob any help would be appreciated.

PS. My gpu is a 1070 and it sits around 65-70 while gaming and its pretty hot in the UK atm so in my opinion that is pretty decent.

75c is not bad but the fact that you have an AIO, that is a bit concerning. Can you run AIDA and do a stress test? it would be great to see a screenshot of the results to know what is going on. Also can you screenshot your task manager CPU Tab in idle and load scenarios?

You can:

1. Check if the fans are spinning
2. Check if the radiator is full of dust
3. Check if the CPU thermal paste is good
4. Check if the CPU mount is good

Those are the first things to check for.

@jooroth18 I did a test recently in which didnt go over 80c and Would disabling MCE help the temps? as I've read it comes already enabled on asus mobo

I would leave it on. Yeah your temps are a little high, but remember that the Intel stock cooler runs your CPU up to 85c. The T-Junction (max temp) your CPU can run at is 100c so I think you are fine.

@jooroth18 What are the benefits of keeping MCE on and if I turn it off will it decrease my temps or not?

MCE (Multi Core Enhancement) essentially applies your Single Core max turbo speed to all cores. its like overclocking, it gets you more performance. if you disable it, yes your CPU will run cooler, but you loose that added performance.

Yes, it is. Iike i said, Intel with the stock cooler runs your CPU at 85c, and your rig runs it at 10c less. Also, you are nowhere near the t-Junction (100c).
