Hello,

Im thinking of upgrading my system due to getting low FPS in some games i.e PUBG and Battlefield 1. When I say low FPS I am getting around 55-100 on low/medium settings.

I was wondering if there could be any sort of bottle neck with my system i.e outdated hardware or one component out performing the other like GPU and CPU

My system specs:

CPU - I7-4790k non overclocked

Mobo - ASUS Maximus VII Ranger

RAM - 8GB RAM 1600MHz

GPU - MSI GTX 970 4GB

Cooler - Hyper 212 Evo

HDD - 1TB

SSD - 120GB

I’m well aware that 8GB is not really a good amount for gaming but will it have a massive impact for FPS?

If a upgrade is needed I have around £850 to spend on upgrades but would only be looking to upgrade my motherboard, RAM, GPU and CPU also a cooler to fit the new CPU socket.

Many thanks in advance,

James

The hard drive might be causing some issues too if all your games are on there (I assume they are). So with that in mind:

This will give more than enough performance, but you also get a 1tb SSD for all your games, and also OS if you choose to put that onto here as well.

If you prefer to keep your current storage setup, then you've got other choices. You can upgrade the GPU to a 5700XT pulse, or you can upgrade the CPU to the 3700x. You could also change the GPU to a 2070 Super if you really wanted to experience ray tracing. Chances are you don't though considering you're playing BF1 and PUBG.
