Is a i5 3570k going to bottleneck a gtx 1660 ti

Go to solution Solved by thx1138,

a 1660ti is not a price/performance GPU right now....The Vega 56 would be a much better price/perf. or upgrade to a 5700/5700xt or even a 2060$uper........or even downgrade to a 580 or 570(or go used.)

if playing new games that utilize mutl-core then you are definitely leaving performance on the table......but if your at least planning an upgrade at some point within the next 8 months....

I would probaby see about a used GPU to pair with that system (like a 980 or a 1060 6g ) and sell that system when upgrading full system later.

Hi I’m looking to upgrade my current gpu which is a msi gtx 960 4gb model I got it when it came out so performance was excellent at the time but now I feel like it’s struggling in 2019 for AAA titles can’t get above 60 FPS on medium settings so I was looking at a gtx 1660 ti and I wanted to know if my i5 3570k would be ok for it I have it oc to 4.2 GHz on all cores I know a lot of you guys are gonna say like upgrade your cpu and everything but as of right now I can’t upgrade that stuff so any in-site on this could really help thanks

also here’s the rest of what I have anyway

case: nzxt h100

mobo: asrock z77 extreme 4

cpu: i5 3570k oc 4.2

gpu: msi gtx 960 4 gb

ram: 16 gb Corsair vengeance 1866 MHz

psu: Corsair 750 watt gold

ssd: 1tb San disk extreme

monitor: 144htz (forgot model number)

thanks again

You'll see stuttering and fps drops but it'll still perform much better than the 960.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

Depends on the title.  Definitely would in some games, probably most if not all modern AAAs if I was to guess, but it'll still be worth the upgrade for sure.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

I'm getting upwards over 50 FPS on High in Tomb Raider.

UserBenchmarks: Game 72%, Desk 68%, Work 40%

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K - 65.7% ( 5 years old ) - $85
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1660-Ti - 81% ( Brand New )  - $269
SSD: Samsung 860 Evo 1TB - 73.2% ( 6 months old ) - $139
RAM: G.SKILL RipjawsX DDR3 1600 C10 2x8GB - 64.8% ( 5 years old ) - $57
MBD: Asus P8H77-V LE ( 6 years old ) - $120 ( Latest Bios - 03/17/2014 )

I upgraded about 6 months ago when the 1660-Ti was released.

Spent under $400 on the card and SSD, and I run games and the latest AutoDesk CAD programs.. with no issues.

Total on Amazon : $670

Computer still runs strong.. and the MB is 6 years old.

The i5-3570K still has some life in it.. Maybe one day my MB will die, but until then.. I'm good with it.

Running 2 screens, one being a 37" 4K

Curious what others have gotten from their i5-3570K rigs ?
