Server Names

Hi Linus and the LTT Community.

I would like some advice please. I am building a FreeNAS server that will be used for media streaming and archival storage of family photos, videos, music etc.

How do you think of the various names for your servers, linus? At the moment, my own server project is called "Project Bob" until I come up with a proper server name.

Any advice given would be highly appreciated.

naming computers was fun when i was a teen, I used to have all sorts of names for my servers like Gatecrasher, Slinky, Kandalf, etc...

But i find functional names far better these days

router = ROUTER

switch = SWITCH

AP Lounge = AP_LOUNGE

AP Hallway = AP_HALLWAY

My PC = JARSKYPC

NAS = JARSKYNAS

ESXi hosts = ESXI01 & ESXI02

Seedbox = SEEDBOX

PiHole = DNS

etc...
