Which ram out of this list? Is it really worth the higher price?

sticking with this one for aesthetic reasons.

i can’t say what it’s going to be paired with as it’s along story but just believe me. It will be at least a 6600 and at most a 9900k

Unlimited budget but want to spend as less as possible.

Go for the bottom choice, 3600mhz.

If you end up going with a board than can XMP the 3600mhz ram is definitely worth the 10$ price increase over 2666mhz.

Ok I meant to ask about that.

it says Ryzen optimised. What does that mean? Is it going to perform lesser on intel boards (which I will probably be going with).

It's marketing crap. AMD listed types of ram (speed, latency, etc) that work best on their chipsets and ram oems put that on every kit of 3200mhz, 3600mhz and 3000mhz cl16 and 18 ram out there.

It doesn't mean anything, on Intel or AMD platforms it's still 3600mhz ddr4 just the same.

Back on the OG 1000 series, IIRC kits marked for AMD were usually Samsung B-Die, the best stuff for Zen compatibility. AMD fixed the RAM issues so now it's just a sticker they slap on anything running 3600Mhz or low latency 3200 and such.

Ahh ok great thanks.

now a little thing about cas I’m sure you’ll know so I won’t bother making another post.

some cas is just 2 numbers e.g xx

and some are 4 separate numbers e.g xx-xx-xx-xx

how does that work?

also the ram you pointed out has cas 18 now does that compare to the 4 digit ones and I’m old it’s bad as it’s too high. Is it? I don’t mind paying another 20 or so quid for even an extra 10 FPS.

Just now, Genwyn said:

It's just the full cas latency measurement vs the shorthand. You don't usually need to worry too much about cas latency unless you're doing some very ram intensive stuff, and for most people only it's first rating matters. The lower the number the better, but it's not the most vitally important of things.

So 3600 is 18

and for £4 cheaper the 3000 is 15, but the 3600 is deffo still better?

Ok so it’s on preorder and it should have been here 14th so it’s delayed. What is second choice in case it takes too long to come? I’m assuming the 3200 cas 16? Or 3000 cas 15?
