Worker Names

Go to solution Solved by Mac,

Yes, you can change the name of the miner and still keep your balance.

Remember to keep worker name and password as generic as possible. They are used to identify which account gets credit for the shares submitted.

The worker name and password are not encrypted and sent via plain text. They are not secure or safe in anyway, do not use an actual password. Something like worker "username.1" and password "x" is recommended. The worst someone can do with this info is mine on your behalf.

You can create as many workers as you like on most pools. Changing the worker name won't affect your account balance in any way. Just remember to update your mining configs with the new worker addresses.

For security, you want to ensure that your pool account has a strong password and 2 factor authentication. If someone is able to get into your pool account, they can subtly change the payout address.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Users cannot, and will not securely manage key material. Most users can't and the ones that can, wont.

Ask me about Bitcoin, Litecoin, Crypto-Currencies, and/or Mining them.
