Problems with screen ratios

I use a Samsung Full HD LED Samsung 22" S22E310 - HDMI and a Lenovo 310-15ISK Laptop (ideapad) - Type 80UH, and for a long time, I used my monitor just plugged in with a VGA cable, without checking any resolution size, but recently I was looking for a wallpaper and discovered that my 1920x1080 16:9 monitor was running at a 1680x1050 16:10 and I couldn't change to a higher resolution despite my monitor's native resolution being 1920x1080. I tried using Intel's Custom Resolution with a 1920x1080 config but it just didn't show up in the Intel configs neither in the Windows configs. So I searched on the internet about this and I saw in some site I don't remember that maybe I needed to update my Intel Graphics Control Panel, and so I did using the Lenovo updating software, plus a BIOS update, and I can now select the 1920x1080 resolution, but it shows giant black bars on the side, and runs 1680x1050 just fine, with no black bars. But the strangest part of this all is that when I change the Scale on the Intel Graphics Control panel to Full Screen, the image looks horrible, but if I click cancel, it goes back, but the black bars on the side disappear, but it seems like the vertical resolution is too big, because I can see the top of the desktop, but not the bottom Task bar, and if I move the image upwards using the monitor's manual settings I can see the bottom but not the top, and where it said before that the resolution was 1680x1050, it says nothing, just 60hz.

I fixed the problem by using a HDMI cable, not really sure how I didn't think of using another cable type before.
So it's fixed but I'm stupid and don't know how to delete this...
