windows 7 hangs on start up

so when i built this computer the whole time i have had it, it has hung at the start up. when it is starting the light only flickers very lightly and as soon as the start up orb appears it starts to flash bright. it is a samsung 840 pro 120gb but it looks like my 840 evo is faster   

what i have done

re installed windows  

changed from AHCI to IDE no change 

overclocked my cpu

Could be you chipset (motherboard) drivers... AHCI is best for SSDs, and with the Samsungs you really should go through all the optimization steps in the Magician software.

Make sure your cable from SSD to MB is SATA3, and be aware that using SATA ports other than Intel supported ones may result in slow speeds.


(I have X58, and due to intel drivers, my intel SATA2 ports are faster than my marvell SATA3 ports).

yea i have also tried other sata ports but it some times causes it not to boot

Could be a bad SATA cable, I've seen that before... also you should try to boot without any USB connections, or other SATA connections other than your boot drive, just to isolate the problem.

sorry i have also changed the cable and i have fast boot enabled in the bios so that it only boots with keyboard and mouses
