Will it make a difference ???

Basically i was building a pc for my friend and he accidentally got and sfx psu rather that a full atx one, i was just wondering if it would make any difference.

SFX power supplies are more expensive than normal power supplies so sending it back and buying a cheaper unit would make sense, but which unit did you get?

Actually the reason he accidentally bought it was that it was cheaper at the time ...

it should not matter but like @fasauceome said they are more expensive and can lack additional features

there should be no issues with it.  SFX PSUs usually have a few less cables included  so if your putting in a ton of SSD's or GPUS then it would be an issue but at 550W it seems like this is a fairly standard system

It's probably their SFX G series unit then, which is fine. It works the exact same way as a normal PSU. Pretty sure that model comes with an adapter bracket too, so it fits a case for normal PSUs.
