CPU upgrade help

Hi so I have a prebuilt Lenovo y520  the specs are as follows- i3 7100, 8gb ram, 1050ti , 1tb hdd and 450 w Corsair psu.

i am going to upgrade my cpu as it’s bottlenecking in a lot of games and I was just wondering what would be the best cpu to upgrade to. Thanks

It has an H170 chipset board and supports 7th gen processors out of the box, your best processor is an i7 7700 non-k. It cannot overclock, no point in a 7700K.

 

For pairing with a 1050ti the best bet would one of the i5's.

If you would upgrade the GPU as well, i suggest something like an RX 580 and then get an i7 7700.

Without upgrading the GPU you wouldnt notice much difference between the i7 7700 and an i5 7400.

The i5 7400 is a much better choice for this kind of thing.

Idiotic naming on Lenovo's part (surely you'd think Yxxx = Yoga) sure didn't help with me not knowing their product stack that well to notice that lol
