My friend brings his tower PC over sometimes for us to have LAN parties, and he normally uses my 4K TV for a display. He has to set Windows' display settings and the in-game resolution to 1080p since the HDMI cable is only a 1.4 version and also becuase he only has a GTX 1070.

The problem is that no matter what game it is, Monster Hunter World, Overwatch, Battlefield V, every so often his game crashes.

He has the latest Nvidia drivers, latest version of Windows, neither his GPU or CPU is overclocked, and all his system's temps seem to be perfectly fine.

He really wanted to avoid having to do a fresh install of Windows, but he's running out of ideas to solve his game crashing.

Full specs? Also, try using the previous settings as the crashes only occurred after he set it to 1080p

It crashes at default settings too... Not to mention it also causes there to be no signal due to it trying to push 4K 60Hz when 1.4 ver HDMI can only do 4K at 30Hz.
