special question

ok so my question is the cpu heatspreader is larger than something like a gpu. does the wmk of a tim being used on say a cpu heatspreader matter as much as it would on a gpu? reason being the size of the heatspreader and how much surface area there is to spread the heat out. also I am currently using thermal grizzly I was for a while using arctic silver. my question also is would putting thermal grizzly on the gpu and arctic silver on the cpu make a difference? remember the gpu die is smaller than the heatspreader on the cpu so that could come into play.
