Morning PCMR

I have a dell P2317H with a cracked LCD

Rather than send it to landfill id like to replace the panel and keep a hold of it, however I cant find a single doc with any info with a panel number to find a replacement

Dell themselves don't seem to want to be forthcoming with the info either when I asked them

Thanks

Let me start with, sorry i can't really help you.

What i can do however, is tell you that when you take the screen from its back panel and remove the plastic cover, you can find a part number. This partnumber you can search for on google and other site's and hopefully find a replacement.

My experience however (i worked 'for' Fujitsu Siemens a long time ago) is that they do not share this information, since they don't want un-authorized people to fix these things. Much like what is happening with Apple. However you could try and contact an authorized repair center and ask them, maybe even order with them. I know we did this in the past and it was never an issue.

good luck.

As a piece of advise, try to use plastic to open a plastic cover.

For me what worked best where old debit or credit cards. the plastic of the card is generally softer than that of a plastic casing but firm enough to wedge the parts lose.
