Hey guys, my rx480 from sapphire used to be chill at 58 - 60 ºC while playing csgo and fifa 18 ... bought it in may 2016 and all games would run under 70 ºC. except for witcher 3 that went to 72ºC locked at 70 fps so it wouldnt go up in temp and to reduce screen tearing. this used to be in a lower resolution monitor (1440x900). this past year i got a 1080p monitor and from that point on csgo goes to 78ºc if i dont lock it at 100 fps (this way it still goes to around 70ºC)... at the time of purchase of the monitor i also cleaned my pc and graphics card and replaced the thermal paste with arctic mx-4... but i didnt replaced the thermal pads... maybe this is the issue ? or the bump in resolution ? but its wierd going up more than 10-15ºC ... i see benchmarks an they sit aroud 55-70ºC max

EDIT: if i unlock the fps on games over 60fps it overheats and goes around or near 80ºC and makes a lot of fan noise wich i dislike

i need opinions

None of the temps you listed are overheating

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

How many watts do I need?

Thermal Pads wont affect your GPU die temps. You're fine with those temps honestly. The cards are built around getting warm, usually up in the mid 80s before they really start throttling down clocks to control temps.

Those are all about normal temperatures for a card that's a couple years old while gaming.

Overheating would be if it was going up to 90+ degrees Celsius.

1920x1080 is significantly more demanding than 1440x900 the graphics card has to work a lot more so the temp goes up. Its still within check, nothing is overheating.

i'm just finding this wierd because it didnt behave like this before.... and i dont know if its from the thermal paste or pads ... or from the monitor... if i did it separately i could find a culprit lol...

I already told you. Its because of the monitor.

More pixels -> More work

More work -> More power usage
More power usage -> More heat

but the temps dont match youtube videos ... that's wierd XD sorry to persist

because you have different ambient temperature, different case, different airflow in the case, different components in the case that radiate a different amount of heat, the thermal compund on your card may be applied a bit differently which may offset the temperature slightly

Should be all right. I dont see why you want to upgrade if you keep your FPS locked to 60FPS at 1080p anyway. Your card should be enough for that.
