Hello all, I think my GPU may be failing. I have a GTX 980TI (gigabyte windforce 3x) and run a triple monitor setup, but two things have happened. One; my left most monitor on one of my DVI ports isnt turning on, and swapping the DVI for my right most monitor makes that one blank out and sleep. Two, When I booted my PC today, my windows logon screen was on only my right monitor and the resolution must have been like, 800x600. After a few seconds my middle monitor kicked on and resolution was restored, without even logging in to see what was happening with my settings. I turned it off and tried again and it indeed happened same as last time, right monitor, 800x600ish resolution. Please tell me There is something I can do. I cannot afford to get any high end components right now and if this is dead, best I have is my wifes 970 I could "borrow" but theres no chance that will run VR heh. Any ideas or is this thing done for?

EDIT: I ran the 3DMark fire strike test and my card seems stable as far as performance goes, I've added the results of the test to this post.

its not exhibiting signs thats there's anything wrong with it just that whatever its software configuration is is just doing something slightly different than it would if it was 4 years ago with drivers from 4 years ago.

i'd just do very basic things like a driver refresh and and monitor configuration refresh

Okay, I uninstalled my graphics drivers and for shits and giggles I also unplugged all monitors but the one on the offending port before turning it back on. BIOS Showed on the monitor so you were correct in that it seems to be software related. Once windows loaded up it auto-installed the latest NVIDIA drivers (one I already had) and now all three monitors are functioning. Curiously, while I was plugging in my other two monitors It seems two of my displayports didn't work for some odd reason. My card has three DP and the last one worked so I'm all good there, but I'm wondering why those other ports wouldn't function..

Final solution:
So something I've noticed in the aftermath to this initial post is pointing to a bigger problem. Upon booting my PC on some occasions my graphics driver will have uninstalled itself for no discernible reason. Thinking this was a driver issue, I sought to install the last released driver from NVIDIAs website. But none of them worked. They all say "This version of windows is not supported" and fail. In fact, Even the current graphics driver for my card will fail with that error message! The only way to get graphics drivers onto my system seems to be the auto-install when I boot the machine. GTA V has crashed 3 times in a few hours of play, and a 4th crash was hard, forcing a reboot.

So a little backstory. I am knowingly running an older build of windows 10. Version 1511 (OS Build 1058.0). I destroyed Windows ability to update over many concerns and wanting to take back control over the product I paid for. But all that aside, It is seeming increasingly likely that my PC's general compatibility is going to go down hill. This post is now a cautionary tale to those who may have similar issues now or in the future, who have also chosen to reign in their own PC's to do what they want them to, rather than be at Microsoft bidding.

It is also possible that this indeed is an issue purely at the helm of NVIDIA drivers and the next release will improve the stability and functionality but that will have to be seen. Thank you Emosun for posting in my thread seeking help. I think this current reply can suffice as the official answer to this thread. Beware running old builds of Windows. Not everything can be under our full control.. especially drivers xD
