Windows Interface Missing

my computer boots up and when i login it goes to a blank screen with a cursor in the screen

hit Ctrl-Shift-Esc to open up task manager.

File -> Run -> Explorer.exe

Maybe give it a few minutes? how old is your PC? what version of windows OS are you using?

 

Sounds to me like you might need to reinstall the OS, or maybe there is a virus or something that's preventing explorer task from starting. You can run almost any program from that menu, so maybe download a virus scanner and see if anything is there.

restart in safe mode and see if it works then. if it does, you most likely have a virus.

tried that too. the process is running but no taskbar or anything
