hi guys,

I have a problem with my pc, first of all this is my system:

gigabyte aorus z390 elite ~mb

gtx 1080ti ~gpu

antec gamer gold 750w ~psu

os - windows 10

i7 9700k ~cpu

noctua d15 ~cpu cooler

it has been running for 2 months now.

I run one evo 970 250gb NV.me with win10  os on it and 2hdd 2tb each .

so new problem happened to me recently when I open task manager I see for a split of second that the cpu usage is at 100%

and after 1 second it drops back to 1 - 4%, at first I thought it might be trojan or some mining virus so I tried to use malabyteware, spyware, rkill, tdsskiller,

all of those found 0 threats so I tried to restart my computer, after restart no change, tried again with safe mode without network and it seemed to fix the problem,

at that point I disconnected both of my hdds and inserted usb with win 10, I did format using the win10 installation and installed windows 10 again, problem still persisted, tried again using the "reset" option in

the control panel, I choose the "delete everything" or something like that option, still nothing.

i tried to download hwmonitor and it seems everything is fine there, cpu at max load (stock) reach max of 1.320v

temps at idle are 26c - 30c,

everything else seems fine, fan speeds are normal, utilization:

processor: at the moment 4% max is 39% (even after starting task manager and exiting it)

cpu 0: max 39%

cpu 1: max 87%

cpu 2: max 67%

cpu 3: max 78%

cpu 4: max 57%

cpu 5: max 50%

cpu 6: max 61%

cpu 7: max 67%

when i open task manager seems that the cpu is at 100% and drop really fast to low 1% 4% again, cpu temp spike by 20c max (doesn't go above 64c during stress test)

usage of the processor, some cores spike to up to 20  utilization (when entering task manager) and than drop again but never exceed 20%.

if anyone have any idea of what it could be i would love to know, it might be just a bug with the task manager but still you guys are a lot more knowledgeable than me so i appreciate any help.

sorry for bad grammar

boot into windows normally, disconnect from the internet, and see if cpu usage still jumps to 100%

checked again with safe mode without internet, spikes to 67

did it again with internet, spikes to 100 - 92

and did what you asked, disconnected from internet and it still spikes to 90 - 83

hwmonitor doesn't show this aggressive spikes, it shows only 20% usage when entering task manager and when I exit task manager it says that cpu is idle at 1 to 4 %

i'm perplexed. not sure what's causing these spikes. even with other programs running in the background, 9700k shouldn't hit full usage when opening task manager

It's late here, but i'll do some research and try to get back to you tomorrow! :)

Thank you, so far those spikes only show on task manager, in other softwares like hwmonitor this problem doesnt exit, even when hwmonitor runs in the background, opening task manager shows only 20%spike in hw while in task manager it says 100% i wonder which one is telling the truth here, anyway good night m8 thank you

typically they're both pretty reliable, but hwmonitor & hwinfo64 give much more detail. I'm confused why task manager is showing 100% but, i'd imagine its wrong since your temps aren't spiking super high. I just don't know why. In the mean time, i wouldn't worry about it too much. I'm just intrigued by it
