Upgrading My GPU

Solved by D3MON,
I wrote this on 5th oct last year ina few threads (when the 780ti rumors were circulating)
8800gt-dec-end of year-2007-65nm-whole new architecture
9800gt-feb-beginning year-2008-65/55nm (die shrink and rebrand together)
9800gx2-mar-beginning year-2008-65nm (dual gpu)
gtx280-jun-beginning year-2008-65nm-new architecture, roughly doubled from last gen
gtx285-jan-beginning year-2009-55nm rebrand
gtx295-jan-beginning year-2009-55nm (dual gpu)
gtx480-mar-beginning year-2010-40nm-new architecture AND a die shrink
gtx580-nov-end of year-2010-40nm rebrand
gtx590-mar-beginning year-2011-40nm dual gpu
gtx680-mar-beginning year-2012-28nm-new architecture and die shrink
gtx690-apr-beginning year-2012-28nm-dual gpu, titan created from crippled tesla, 780 from crippled titan.
gtx770-may-beginning year-2013-28nm rebrand
gtx880-mar-beginning year-2014-20nm-new architecture and die shrink
gtx890-nov-end of year-2014-20nm- dual gpu
gtx890-nov-end of year-2014-20nm- dual gpu
gtx980-mar-beginning of year-2015-20nm-rebrand
Im guessing the 8xx series will be another new architecture and a die shrink.
1-the new architecture wont be HUGE, were talkign a gtx860, 860ti, 870, 880 etc with maybe a 10% larger die with a few more TMU's and stream processors, why? because titan and 780ti will still be around for a fair few months after 8xx release to sell old stock, then they'll roll out something else later.
2-there will be power reductions due to the die shrink, clock speeds will remain fairly the same both stock and overclocked but yeah, power reductions.
evidence:gtx480=250W, gtx 580 (rebrand and small increase in cores)=244W, gtx680(die shrink and major architecture change)=195W. gtx770 increased due to it being a little more powerful so that was around 230w
so im guessing theyll push for a 200W gtx880. which is a gk104 with another SMX unit enabled or soemthing, theres a bit gap between the 1536 SPuof a gtx770 and the 2304 in a gtx780 isnt there...
if you want to know the reoad ahead, ask those coming back-translation:wanna know when 8xx is coming? look at the last 5 years of releases,
your i5 will be fine for a while, games are evenly using threads now but ill doubt itll max out any cores any time soon.
