Hello,

Recently my computer got affected by a storm as our internet box was not connected to a surge protector. The internet box got fried by lightning and in turn my computer got affected by it as well. My computer was connected to a surge protector but nothing else on the surge protector got affected. When I went to go and use my computer none of the USB ports were working and the Ethernet port was completely dark and there was no lighting. I noticed then that one of my displays weren't working as i have a dual monitor setup. I eventually replaced everything except for the graphics card and my SSD. When I finished my building my new computer the graphics card was still giving me issues where it will not display anything on my second monitor. For that monitor i am using a DVI-D connector and I have switched out the cables and it still does not display anything. Also, when I have both monitors hooked up one with HDMI and one with DVI-D neither monitor will display anything. I even tried a second older graphics card with the upgraded drivers and I am having the same issue. The cards recognize that there is a monitor connected because both monitors go to sleep but refuse to display anything. I don't know what to do and how to fix this problem.

PC specs:

Asus Z390-A prime

Intel Core i5-9600K

Nvidia GTX 1070

Nvidia GTX 660 (Older card for testing purposes)

Corsair RM850x

Corsair 16gb DDR4 3000mhz

Samsung 860 EVO 500GB ssd

Considering you are having the same problem with different cables, GPU's and a different monitor it's probably the monitor's fault. You say the computer was plugged into the surge protector, but was the monitor plugged into the surge protector or not? That probably caused it to fry if it wasn't. And just to be clear, you aren't having problems when you connect just the known working monitor, but when you connect both, neither will show anything? It may be that since the DVI-connected monitor is probably set to the priority #1 depending on where the connectors on the card is located, it's waiting for the priority monitor to work first. You could try logging into Windows blind and see if it still goes to desktop on the second monitor as the login screen will only show on the primary.

If the monitor is fried you will just have to scrap it. If you're handy like myself you could try replacing the power supply board by ordering a new one, which is likely the part that contains the fried components.
