Modding front 200m fan

Guest King of Old School
I have got my replacement front fan and even with this 2nd fan it still making the same noise and this time i even have plugged it into a different fan header and no difference , so i'm wondering should i just mod the front part so i can put 2 120m fans in it but also can anyone tell me if you can do 2 140's in the front or is it easier just to stick to 120's if i mod this will it void my warranty, i have seen some vids on youtube mainly to do with putting 2 120s fan i would like to do 2 140s instead

Thanks all

I love this case but this is 1 of 2 problems that the 650D has other being the USB 3.0 but when i brought this case i think like 2 or 4 weeks later Corsair comes out with the 750D which solves a few problems that the 650D has

Generally speaking KoOS you'll void your warranty on anything you modify with your case. Having said that, the case isn't going to fall apart if you drill afew holes, so warranty isn't really something you need to worry about. I mean if the case out of the box was bent or something, than yes get warranty first. As for the fans, its better to have low pressure fans at the front. Having a 120mm vs 140mm won't make that big of a difference, just ensure you have adequate outtake fans at the rear.

If it's easier to go the 120mm route, than do that. Perhaps place a 140mm at the rear and one in the roof. Regarding this "noise" what exactly is happening here? Is it vibration noise? flicking sounds....?

yeah even the replacement one i got from Corsair still makes noises as well, i would be cutting it and adding a piece of steal to it, there are these Noctua NF-A15 PWM there 140's but the mounting is for 120's or would i just be better of sticking to Noctua NF-F12 PWM or even going with Corsair fans

Thanks for your advice

I see. Well if the mounting slots for the NF-A15 are compatible with a 120mm configuration than why not go with that, certainly a good option which wont require you doing any drilling. You will though have to remove the 5.25" bay won't you? or will 2x140mm fans fit there? Stick with the Noctua fans, if you're having issue with the Corsair brand than don't use them. This sound is unusual though, usually you might get a single defective fan, but too have two in a row makes me think it's not the fans but maybe someting else. Perhaps theres abit of plastic touching the fan blades as they rotate?

ok this is the stock corsair fan i'm talking about, i'm using AF120 atm and i haven't had a problem with it, do you think i should cut any of the mesh or just leave it and try the fans 1st to see if i would have to do any cutting

Oh I see. Definitely try the fans first, you may get away with it. Also, it'll help to see if you even have to mod it at all. It looks like you could fit one dan perfectly, but the other fan may nit have full access to the mess, that may not make that big of a difference anyway.

yep true, but it would look cleaner if i did mod it tho, but like you said i might not have to at all once again thanks for the advice

Yeah well modding is always fun buddy. Just make sure you draw up your plans and measure properly. Don't just start hacking into your case ;). Good luck, post some pictures of your plans and your progress KoOS, look forward to seeing it.

Cartdog.

Change of plans i think what i will do is just put 2 Noctua NF-F12 and don't worry about the modding cause i have been told that i can put 2 Noctua NF-F12 in i wouldn't have to mod it, i will end up modding it but i will wait until i run out of Warranty and then i will do it

Thanks again for your advice
