The motherboard (AsRock B50) has 8 USB ports on the back of the motherboard (2x USB 2.0, 1x USB C, 2x USB 3.x).

PCPartPicker has an Australian site...you used the U.S. site, so I guess he assumed you were located in the U.S.

AU equivalent:

** Price does not include monitor, as availability in Australia is different **

** Price DOES include monitor for the prices below **

There are a couple things you can play around with.

  1. Computer Case. The Corsair SPEC Omega RGB is pretty pricey for a lower tier case. the Corsair Crystal 460X is a bit lower, but there are other white RGB / non RGB cases for even cheaper...like $120 ~ $150 range.
  2. AIO liquid cooler. Again, other 240mm / 280mm AIO RGB coolers that a cheaper. (e.g. CoolerMaster MasterLiquid, NZXT X52 v2, etc). 80 ~ $170 range.
  3. You can also play around with the motherboard. Couple of B450 / X470 motherboards to choose from.
  4. CPU. You can either stick with a Ryzen 2600(X) or go up to the Ryzen 3600(X). Price wise, Ryzen 2600(X) would be your best bet.

Without submitting a full build. I can tell you i would not be splurging on a rather expensive cooling solution at that budget. The cooler is literally 48% of the CPU+cooler price.

CPU 2600x -> 3600

CPU cooler Corsair 240mm AIO -> stock cooler

Since i suggest moving from a supported 2000 series Ryzen CPU, to an unsupported series Ryzen 3000 series. We need to change the motherboard as well.

Motherboard Asrock B450 pro

Alternative 1: MSI B450M Pro About 85-100SUD

Alternative 2: MSI B450 Pro About 100-110USD

The reason is that both of these motherboards can update the BIOS to support the 3000 series Ryzen, without the need for a CPU. Download the BIOS update for the motherboard on a separate computer and store it on a USB. For guides check out youtube, i believe there exist a short simple guide for the ''MSI B450 Tomahawk'' specifically.

I would not be comfortable powering this with a 550W power supply, especially one of such low quality. If there is one thing you don't want to save cents on, it's the power supply. Better spend another 10-20USD on quality rather than regretting it later.

Seasonic Focus Plus 650W

It's 20USD more expensive, but you're getting another 100W and much higher quality. If you have never heard of the brand, know that most of Corsairs high end stuff is re-branded Seasonic PSUs. You can't go wrong with Seasonic.

Now that we are down 50USD under original budget. I would spend it, and add about 15-20USD to get an AMD 5700 for 350USD, or a 5700XT for 400USD. Prices for partner boards from Sapphire, MSI or Asus pending.

Motherboard: Asus X570-E
CPU: 3900x 4.3GHZ

Memory: G.skill Trident GTZR 3200mhz cl14

GPU: AMD RX 570

SSD1: Corsair MP510 1TB

SSD2: Samsung MX500 500GB

PSU: Corsair AX860i Platinum

Fair enough.

That's true, a good case that you like can be re-used for a COUPLE of system builds -- I can relate to that first hand.

What is your absolute maximum budget you are comfortable with in AUD?

CAD and AUD is fairly similar value / conversion wise, do I know the feeling of expensive computer hardware....compared to USD prices.

It is quite a bit more costly in Australia (which is where OP is located).

AUD --> USD is AT LEAST an extra 30% ...

For example:

  • The Focus Plus Gold 550W is an extra $40 AUD over the Corsair CX 550W non-modular (Focus 650W is actually $10 more).
  • Ryzen 3600 is $314 AUD vs the 2600 at $198

Those two alone are already ~$150 more.

Corsair h100i on that cpu? The cooler is the same price as the CPU. You would get a lot more performance by spending those 300 dollars on a better CPU and keep the stock cooler, or a cheaper cooler. For example a r5 3600 and a BeQuiet Dark pro 4 would get you way more fps.
