Does anyone know a good and free C++ coding program?

Notepad++ should work I think.

Umm...isn't there a free version of visual studio?

If not Notepad++ or DevC++

Well you could go with something like Netbeans (C++ dev one)

Or Visual Studio C++ express

Can't go wrong with gcc and vim (although this is more oldschool I find)

I would recommend code::blocks or visual studio express. Visual studio is great if you want to work your way deeper into the windows ecosystem. If you want to be free to develop on anything you can put an operating system on then code::blocks is the tool for you, whether you have a 64 core 4P monster or a raspberry pi.

There are only two IDEs I would suggest for C++: Visual Studio or IntelliJ with the C/C++ plugin.

 

Otherwise I suggest Emacs :D and a compiler (I'd recommend Clang with the LLVM backend, Open Watcom, or gcc for teh newbz)
