I'm trying to decide on ram for a 3900X upgrade and have everything picked out other than the memory. I'm looking at the Asus X570 Hero that does support the Trident across the 4 dimms per Asus, the Corsair model doesn't show on their list

I'd like to stick to 32gb (4x8) of 3600-CL16 ram. I'd prefer to do 4 sticks for appearance.

After doing some research I think I've got more questions than answers.

What am I missing here?

From Asus's site regarding X570 Hero and Trident

Oh man get the Trident Z RGB.  The corsair is way over priced and what not.  Your rig will run fine on Triden Z  dual channel and you can fill the slots you pay more for a 64gb kit or by 2   32GB kits.  I suggest that actually so you save money.  Because as I said 64GB kits are expensive,, 32GB kit not so and sh*T.

It is not matter of better.  Its a preference.  In what way would it be better be it corsair or his g.skill kit we got for him.

Just get the cheapest memory at the speed/size/timings you want, they mostly all use Hynix and Macron chips anyway.... QVL is useless unless you don't know how to enter UEFI, Set XMP profile, timings and voltage of your ram stick

Main System: Ryzen 2700, Asus Crosshair VII Hero, EVGA GTX 1080ti SC, 970 EVO Plus NVMe, Crucial Ballistix 3200mhz CL14, CM H500, CM ML240L cpu cooler.

Second System: Ryzen 2400G, Gigabyte B450 DS3H, RX 580 Nitro+, Kingston A400 SSD, Team T-Force 3200mhz CL15

If it ain't overclocked it ain't good...
