I remember hearing a while ago about a certain chromebook that was priced insanely low for the amount of sheer hardware in the thing, but can't seem to remember the model.

I already have my gaming desktop setup, and honestly I just need an easily portable web browsing machine with great battery life. Although, knowing how much of a power user I am in general, I'd like to be able to go ahead and throw a copy of windows 8 on the chromebook and have it not choke when I open a browser while doing other tasks.

Any suggestions? Like I said, battery life is what's really important.

If possible, I'd like some options in price brackets around $400 and $500 or less. Thanks!  :D

My mother uses a chrome book for video watching at work. I might be able to ask for some info on it.

Windows 8 on CROMEBOOK HARDWARE?! HAHAHAHHAHAHHHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHA. Thats funny. Comebooks are seriously underpowered. The one I have (check the sig spoiler) has a Celeron and 2GB of RAM. While it can run 40 tabs open in chrome, thats all it can do. I wouldnt even try to throw windows 8 on it.

Some of them can actually have Windows 8 on them but not all of them. I'd recommend this laptop because it is cheap and has okay specs. http://www.amazon.com/Acer-S3-391-6046-13-Inch-Ultrabook-Windows/dp/B00AH4A950/ref=sr_1_4?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1391026340&sr=1-4&keywords=ChromeBook

It's called Chromebooks for a reason... Meant to be used with "Chrome OS" :)

So I would never ever throw Windows 8 at it, at least not at that price bracket...

I do though support the option given by @nseydhasan as it's a good offer.

I have seen people kind of put Windows 8 on their chromebook but it's going to be a lot more headache than it is worth.

Acer C720 has Haswell but I think it's a only non replaceable 16GB

Don't use the Samsung 3 Chomebook or the HP Chromebook, both have ARM and it's not going to work.
