I am having a problem with playing minecraft at my usual 100-200 FPS on my PC. This issue just started today and I now play at 30-80 FPS now on my single player world. This issue is also on every game I tried it on. I believe it is a hardware issue, but I can't pinpoint which piece of hardware it could be. It can also be due to the software the game is running on because of optimization. The PC that I play minecraft on is a Modified version of the Dell Studio XPS 435t/9000. The mod I made to the PC is the GPU from the GTS 240, to the 8800 GTS due to the fan breaking on the 240.

CPU: Intel Core I7 920 @ 2.67 GHz

CPU Cooler: Stock Intel Cooler

MOBO: DELL Inc. 0X501H (CPU 1)

RAM: 9 GB Triple-Channel DDR3 @ 1066 MHz

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS

PSU: Dell Studio XPS 435T 9000 Power Supply 475W F217J VP-09500073-000 J036N J102N

HDD: 596GB SAMSUNG HD642JJ (SATA )
         3GB Seagate ST_M13FQBL (SATA )

Might be thermal throttling? Stock Intel is pretty bad for intensive loads, and 90 C is really high. Maybe try some new thermal compound.

I should definitely change the Thermal Paste becasue it hasn't been changed for over 10 years...

That'll do it, yeah. A better fan might be good too if you don't want/can't afford to replace any other parts.

I have a wierd 4-pin horizontal connector. So it might be hard to find a better (or diffrent) fan.
