So I have another potential PC Build customer that is looking for a PC to run his Minecraft Server. He didn't necessarily tell me how many players he plans to have on this server or what exact kind of server he is running but all I know is that he wants a PC to run it. I am gonna assume it is some sort of dedicated server so I estimate he will probably have, let's say 15 players on the server at the most. What kind of hardware will I need for this build. Since this is Minecraft, I assume the recommended requirements are pretty low but I also want to have the hardware be a little bit better than those recommended specs and be able to run other games or programs if needed. I was thinking a Quad-Core with decent amount of RAM. Anyone have any more specific suggestions? Thanks.

You will need a lot of ram, I used to run one back in the day and a quad-core would be fine. But to really know what specs are needed you need to know how many people are going to be on it. With no players you need 1.5 gb of ram to run. I do not know per player specs though.

For reference:

A Pentium g3258 and 4gb of ram will handle around 10 players.

Ubuntu 24.04 on Ryzen 5 5600x and GTX 1070

Mint 22 on Razer Blade i7-11800h and RTX 3070
