Hello guys,

I need some help. I recently bought a Lenovo Legion Y530-1060. Its motherboard is a LENOVO LNVNB161216 and it runs the BIOS version 9VCN12WW. It runs perfectly, however I received a critical notificiation recommending I updated to a new BIOS version 9VCN18WW. However, after a bit of research, I found out that some people were having problems with Lenovo's BIOS updates, however they didn't specify which versions, the pc model, nor the motherboard. Afterwards I called Lenovo to ask about this update, and they told me not to update because if anything went wrong, it would void my warranty (which sounds shady af, and is in my opinion s#¡tty customer service).

So, to summarize. Has anyone updated their BIOS without any problem? Has anyone had any problem updating? If so, what sort of problem, and how did you fix it?

Thx guys

ive never had to flash my bios on a laptop, but i can't imagine how it could void a warranty.?? You might want to install your current bios onto a flashdrive in case you need to install your old bios... I also can't think of a reason to flash a new bios on a laptop unless there's a critical security issue with your current bios.

idk, it sounds weird. I wouldn't 100% trust whoever you spoke to, but I'm sure they know their policies better than i do.... Their policies just don't make a lot of sense to me

unless flashing your bios could brick your laptop, which i don't think would be very likely, but i guess it's possible
