Good gaming/work laptop?

Hi guys,

Any recommendations for a good gaming laptop? A friend of mine is about to get a new one and his budget is 3000-4500 FJD which should equal to around 1400-2000 USD.

He says he's getting it from China so I can't give you a link from where to shop from so a list of laptop suggestions would be nice. (Hopefully they have it where they are planning to shop from and hoping the price is similar)

So 1080p 144hz, 15-17inches. He plays games like LoL, Fortnite and the like so I'm guessing an rtx 2060 or 2070 would be good?

Being able to upgrade parts like adding a new ssd would be great. Also a laptop that can run cool while gaming is preferred.

Any of the new laptops this year meets these requirements?

Thanks in advance!

Possibly a Tongfang model? That's basically China's version of a Clevo laptop. I know I grabbed one and I've had only a few hiccups... though that's not saying much. Every gaming machine has it's quirkiness. :P

Also for fortnite and LoL, a 2060 is complete overkill; a 1660 Ti is more than enough to do any of that.

He's still in high school so I was thinking when he get's to university he may try some other titles that are more demanding than fortnite.

Just trying to give him a good laptop that will last him a while. So I was thinking maybe a 2060 or 2070 would be a good choice for gpu.

Fair point, though a 1660 Ti in a laptop is no slower than a 2060 in any fashion. The only thing the 2060 has going for it is Ray Tracing, and that's pretty gimmicky tbh. Laptops with 1660tis can be had for a bit cheaper than a 2060 too.

True, any recommendation for 1660ti laptops?

I'm not sure what's available for the guy in China. It's why I initially said to search for a Tongfang machine. They're built in China specifically.
