Hey, my brother is wanting to upgrade due to a bottleneck in his system. He has about a budget of about 250 and needs a new CPU.

Any recommendations?

(BUILD MAY BE GARBAGE)

SPECS:

Intel Pentium Gold G5400

1060 3gb Aero ITX OC

CM B500 V2

MSI B360M Bazooka

16GB HyperX Fury DDR4 2666MHz

Kingston A1000 240GB M.2

Thanks.

I bet you could find an i3 8100 on eBay, but if you want something nicer, an i5 9400f is right for that motherboard

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

If you go for the i5, spring for a graphics card update next. Dual channel 2666 ram is the best B360 can do, and 16GB is plenty, so not like you're hurting there.
