As everybody has probably noticed, the pricing of RAM has substantially dropped over the past year.

What I want to know, however, is if we're hitting the bottom of that valley or if prices are going to keep dropping. If we're getting to the depths of pricing now I want to buy. If prices are going to keep dropping, I can wait a bit.

Have any of you guys been keeping an eye on the nitty gritty details of the market?

What I want to know,

And if we could predict the future, we'd be a LOT richer than we are right now...

In my experience on past trends of computer hardware, things start creeping up in time for xmas, starting right around the end of July.

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

As i see over the years, usually the mainstream capacity is around 40-60 usd, currently its a 8gb ddr 4 module.

Prices usually drop significantly by Q2 (march-april) and slowly increase throughout the year.

If you're comparing to the prices in the last 3 years, yes it is dropped, due to increase in production and density.

The best time to buy memory is Q2 from my experience. That's when the dealers is restocking, and get rid of older stock.

Couple articles like this came up on my news feed in the past few weeks:

https://www.extremetech.com/computing/294307-if-you-plan-to-upgrade-ram-on-a-ddr4-system-its-time-to-pull-the-trigger

No one knows for sure what will happen.  I've been thinking of moving up to 32GB while prices are reasonable but I have no use for that at the moment so haven't decided what to do yet.  I had to get RAM when prices were high so trying to avoid that ever again!

If you're thinking about it, well you can never get a better deal than right now.

If you're content with 16gb, why not getting a faster one, and sell the old one.
