Yes

Here's the image of what I have selected - the right one

Right click the speaker on your task bar, and click Playback devices

select the device you want to play out of and click 'set default'

Just did that, no dice

Exit the program that is playing the sound and load it up again.

(sometimes switching audio sources don't fully work)

Again, nothing

Hmm... ok.

Maybe go to nvidia control panel -> set up digital audio.

And disable the audio coming from the hdmi

Maybe play around with the audio device by right -clicking and either test, configure, or properties. see if there is some sort of switch that will get it to work.

BTW does other audio work? like plugging it into you on board 3.5mm connector?

I've had a similar problem before when using a USB A to B cable to connect my computer to a home theater receiver.

In the end after using the normal audio ports, the usb sound started working when I tried it again (like a few weeks later)

Nope... The 3.5 mm connectors don't work either.  I tried that and switched the default to the three and a half, but still didn't get anything

OK...... well it should have worked....

Have you tried changing to speakers or different headphones to see if they work?

Alright, I finally got the 3.5mm to work, for whatever reason the on-board sound was trying to default to digital audio. Thanks for the help, I'll try again in another couple weeks on the USB sound card, because, you know, computers are finnicky.
