Plug in and play?

I'm planning to buy a Ryzen 5 3600 and pair it with an Asrock B450m Steel Legend. Do I still need to update my bios or am I good to go?

Yes you need to update your bios

You will need to update the BIOS.

 

Get a B450m mortar from MSI. With is Biosflashback you dont need to order a boot-CPU from AMD. 

 

Edit: and the Mortar/tomahawk has much nicer VRMs.

Using the biosflashback option, I won't need to go in the bios and update it manually? It will just do it on its own? So when I install the cpu into the mother and biosflashback it, I'm good to go?

You will need a USB drive to load the BiOS onto to flash the bios. 

 

Other than that its pretty plug and play 

 

Edit: mobo manual should show quite straight forward how to update.
