Hello all
I have Asus rampage iv formula and local seller have some nice deals on ECC memory. I know that most X79 boards support ECC memory with Xeon, but how about i7? Will it accept it, but just with 64bit without ECC? Or it will not work at all?

And how about Reg memory? I know that Reg is hit or miss, but dont know if this isnt just big miss. :D

Thank you all for answers

Unbuffered ECC should work you just won't have the ECC function. Registered I believe will not work. I'm trying to remember but I believe I heard Registered memory relies on a feature inside the CPU (or was it the motherboard...) to work which the i7's (or desktop motherboards) lack.

I have a old x79 motherboard, a 3930K, and a bunch of Kingston UDIMM ECC memory laying around. I can at least confirm or deny if that will work by slapping them together for you if you want.
