I recently changed from a rx 580 to a gtx 1060 6gb, but me being really stupid i forgot to delete the old drivers. When i plugged in the new gpu it starts up but it goes to the mobo logo screen but theres some weird red artifacting as in red lines showing up. It then doesnt go into windows and the monitor shuts down. I have already checked the monitor and cable is not the issue as i alr tried plugging in my laptop to the monitor and it works prefectly fine. I also sold the old gpu alr so i cant just replug the old gpu and delete the old drivers. Could this be the drivers issues? Ps the gpu is a used one so im not sure if it could be that too

Considering you're already getting this at post, i don't think its a driver issue.

If i were you, i would take the card out and clean the connectors properly and put it back in. Somewhere it is most likely not connecting properly.

Aside of this, the card might be defective, the mainboard might be defective or any other number of reasons could cause this issue.

But lets start at the start ;)

Gamesystem: X3700, 32GB memory @3200mhz, GTX1080 Hybrid

Unraid system: Epyc 7352, 24/48, 96GB ECC buffered @2666mhz, 2x GT710, GTX1050Ti

Was the GPU new or used? (The one that's artifacting)

It was used, and the person didnt allow me to test, so i was also suspicious of the gpu being defective. But i have alr contacted the person and he said ehe would refund me. Thing is i would prefer not to refund as the gpu was a steal at the price thus i hope i dont have to refund and opt for a more expensive 1060 again

Usually when you start seeing those artifacts the GPU has...issues. I would suspect that he mistreated the card and sold it quick hoping to never hear from you again.

Sometimes you can fix this sort of thing through baking, though you should probably leap at that chance to get your money back and see if you can find a better price. I saw 2 3GB 1060s sell yesterday for $75 so there is hope for finding another deal.

So if i get the refund and i bought another supposedly working 1060 it would be able to at least get into windows where i can totally wipe the drivers and install the new ones? Then it would be all ok and no more problems hopefully?

Yup, it shouldn't be an issue. If you ever do run into an issue, (and you could try this now) try booting into safe mode and uninstalling all drivers. a 780ti I fixed was giving me those same red "Christmas lights" and that was one way I was able to get into windows.

Sry may sound like a dumb question but how do i get into safe mode when i cant even get into windows? Is there a way cuz i only can get to the mobo logo screen .

if you hold the power button to restart, the machine will see that as "Not safe shutdown" because usually it's a problem fix only. After 3-5 of those restarts windows will automatically prompt for a safe mode boot when you power on.

Ok tkx ill try that but if it doesnt fix ill most probably just refund it, on a side note u seem very knowleadgeable on tech stuff, would u happen to know why i keep getting hdmi no signal? Its not only for this gpu but for every gpu. Whenever i plug in a new gpu it would always hdmi no signal, but after one night it will be ok. Just wanna solve this too as it will be more convenient for me as i change gpu alot as im always on the lookout for good deals and i upgrade my gpu frequently.
