Windows 7 to Windows 10

Hi all,

 

I work for a company who still has ten Windows 7 computers on their network and I need to upgrade them all to windows 10 before the end of the year as this is when support ends. I am just wondering is there anyway that they can still be upgraded for free and can I upgrade them all without having to wipe the contents on the computers? 

 

I know a few years ago this was possible when they were rolling out Windows 10, but is it still now?

If you have the license keys for the Win7 machines you can activate Win10 when installing.

 

I don't know of any way to retain data from Win7 when you upgrade....

The free upgrade is still available (although not officially mentioned). And it should keep the data, but there's no guarantee everything will really be kept and work fine, so you should do a backup as always.

Do you know where to get the free upgrade, I mainly want to be able to keep the Accounts software on these computers? It is compatible with windows 10 so im hoping everything stays the same

Choose "create windows 10 installation media" and use the created media to upgrade

If the systems are prebuilt systems from large OEMs, like Dell, HP, etc.. or had at dome point in time tge Get Windows 10 app, then your Win 10 upgrade offer is reserved, and you can upgrade for free. If not, you'll need to purchase Windows 10.

 

please note that if you run enterprise edition of Windows, you need to see with Volume license provider
