File transfer question

So I have to move files from my netbook (running Windows 7 Professional) my desktop (running Xubuntu 12.04 LTS). I have them connected to each other with an ethernet cable, and I have my netbook set up to share its WiFi connection. I want to transfer files from my netbook to my desktop directly over the ethernet cable. Is this possible, or will I have to find another way to do it?

It is possible. Can you connect both devices through your Router/Hub? That is usually the quickest/easiest way to accomplish it  :D

Nope. My desktop is hooked up to my netbook, which acts like a router, and my netbook is connected to the real router.

Short non-detailed answer. Unfortunately it has been some time since I have done this myself.

One way is to setup a shared folder/directory on windows 7.

You can then access this smb share via Ubuntu. You may need to use the connect to server to access the share.

Then drag and drop.
