So I recently took to Reddit and asked about how often I should replace thermal paste. To sum it up someone said change it if your temps are too high so I ran Superposition Benchmark in game mode with HWMonitor. My CPU temps averaged 87c while averaging 35% utilisation while my GPU sat at 100%. They told me to change the thermal paste since 87c @ 35% wasn’t ideal so I changed it today and nothing changed. I have an Intel Xeon 1231 V3, 12GB DDR3, ASUS H97-Plus, GTX 1080. Is this bad or is it maybe CPU bottlenecking that’s confusing me or perhaps just the benchmark software giving strange results?

Ok. It makes sense since the stock coolers arent that good. I recommend buying an aftermarket one.

What CPU cooler are you using?

What are the temps during a stresstest?

Stock cooler and it had the stock paste on the first run. I can’t run the stress test because it’s a premium feature but the benchmark was less strain then playing in game mode which pushed my PC. Average 35fps if that helps at all

Which model of gtx 1080?

What case are you using and how are your case fans configured?

Make sure the plastic pins on the cooler are fully inserted after clicking and that they're rotated in the locked position.

Moved to Air Cooling.
