Looking to upgrade

I have a 4690 k with a r9 290 looking to upgrade 1000 would be what i would spend on a new system only carrying over hard drives any suggestions or should i stay with what i have

Zen 2 is an option or just ryzen now. I wouldn't really reccomend Intel until 2020 if the roadmap is true.
