Safe to delete?

Okay, LTT, here's yet another question. I have a folder named MSOCache hanging out on my hard drive. One of the files in it says it's for Office 2003 (which I installed). Is this safe to delete?

Also, it says "Hidden" there, so i think you are not supposed to see it -> not supposed to delete it

the file size is small so I think you can live with it 

 

Seems it is a cache folder for the Office suite. I presume has temp backups of documents and (if any) custom presets.

You could just keep it as hidden and then set folder view to not show hidden files/folders. Out of sight out of mind  :lol:

You can delete it but you shouldn't.

 

If you delete it Office's repair function won't work from hard drive (that folder) and it will require CD/DVD/ISO to fix it. And some Microsoft Updates for Office that require that folder won't work.

 

You can burn all that folder onto DVD or CD or copy it to USB and then delete that folder. After that you will need to search Registry for c:\MSOCache and change all the references there to your media where you "backuped your folder"

Well, i just looked up on a $/gb price on pcpartpicker. And after looking again now, $0.09/gb is even a high price (thats what i used to calc)

 

But yes, your netbook knows some dirty stuff, if you know what i mean.

EDIT: I do have a ZIP drive from an old Dell somewhere... I wonder if it still works, or it I even have it still to begin with.

My advice is just to keep it, also consider upgrading to office 2010.

I'll get Office 2013 when I get my new computer. For the time being, Office 2003 Professional works great. No problems whatsoever.
