Hi,

I am planning on buying a new Desktop very soon.

My budget is around 2.5K € (can be a little more). I was wondering if anybody could help me figure out what would be the best option at that price point.

I plan on gaming but not on doing some media work so I don't need a crazy Rizen CPU.

What would be my best pick ?

Thanks guys

What country?  Do you have pcpartpicker.com ?  Figure out what resolution you want to play at and then put a system together with pcpartpicker and post it here.  We can help you fine tune it from there.

I'm in France and honestly, I've never built a desktop so I'll probably buy the pc built. I'm aiming at 1440p with a 120 or 144hz monitor.

I'm also looking for a pc builder that can fairly overclock the CPU.

As my first pc, I don't think water cooling is a good idea however if it's required to have good thermals with a build like this I can deal with it.

I was aiming at something along those lines, to be honest:

PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/C9k4r6

CPU: Intel - Core i7-9700K 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor  ($374.89 @ OutletPC)

Motherboard: Asus - ROG STRIX Z390-E GAMING ATX LGA1151 Motherboard  ($230.95 @ Amazon)
Memory: G.Skill - Trident Z RGB 32 GB (4 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory  ($199.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Samsung - 860 Evo 500 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($77.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Samsung - 970 Evo 500 GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive  ($149.89 @ OutletPC)
Video Card: EVGA - GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 11 GB FTW3 ULTRA GAMING Video Card  ($1299.98 @ Amazon)
Case: Cooler Master - MasterCase H500 ATX Mid Tower Case  ($127.98 @ Newegg)
Total: $2551.62

Up in the top right corner you can change the country.  Here is the French list.  Look a little higher than you wanted to spend maybe.

You also need a power supply.

You can back down to 16GB of RAM.

Yeah, I'll wait till mid-July but I'm prepping everything.

I'm kidda set on the hardware but now I'm focus on thermals tbh.

With a budget of 2.5k, u can easily get water-cooling inside that build

I know that but I don't know if I should, I've never dealt with watercooling and if the benefits are so slim I probably shouldn't.

But from what I can see online, with that build a watercooling would be the best choice.

Yeah, that's what I used in my original build suggestion but idk how much better a watercooling would be, I've never dealt with it before but I could if needed honestly.

It depends on what AiO you get, as noctua coolers are actually able to outperform some warercoolers.

Just make it yourself. There's tons of guides and it's just plug and play. It's easier then Legos.

Your 2080 ti isn't going to blow up cause you make a simple mistake. Linus and every other youtuber drops their components like it's their job and their parts all still work. I've tipped over my case like 3 times while building mine and everything inside was intact and still functioning.

Also go with the noctua for cooling. AIOs will really only beat it by a significant amount if you use the large ones that come with three fans.

Thanks for your help, I'll consider that more seriously. Maybe I shouldn't be so scared to build my own.

Also, is the MasterCase H500 ATX Mid Tower Case a good option, I've heard it's good airflow wise if it's not that big of a deal maybe I'll go for another case. Also, I was wondering what 144hz monitor should I go for?

Case is pretty subjective. If you like that you can get it. If you want to try and save money maybe something else.

I'm assuming you're gonna want 1440p since you have a 2080 ti in your build.

Then something like this for ultra wide.

https://fr.pcpartpicker.com/product/WpJtt6/lg-34uc80-b-340-3440x1440-60hz-monitor-34uc80-b

or this for none ultra wide

You can also just shop around to see what you like and at what price point. Just look to see it has 1440p resolution and is an IPS panel.

The BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 4 is a nicer looking cooler.

Not a fan of that board. I would go with a Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro wifi then you can drop the adapter.

A single 1TB SSD works out cheaper if you go with something like a Crucial MX500.

That case is a bit overpriced. Also looks a bit of a mess with all the drive cages on show, and if you remove them it doesn't have blanking covers. And cable management behind the motherboard tray isn't that good.

You could easily drop down to a 650W psu.

You should still wait for Ryzen 3xxx though on the 7th.

Thanks for your assistance, I'll try this, I'm not planning to buy the system before Ryzen, just planning things (to be fair 3k is a lot of money).

Looking for a display, etc.

I don't know about dropping the adapter because I really need good wifi performance since I can't use ethernet at least, for now, I'll have to dig the performance of the integrated wifi solution.

Thanks appreciate it.

Thank you @Boinbo, I'll use that, regarding the case in term of practicality what do you advise?

Are wifi motherboards as good as wireless cards (count as a yes if it's in the 50mbs range)?
