Hello all,

I recently completed a new build (all items purchased are below) and I ran into an issue on boot that I need assistance with. The issue is this: if I try to boot my computer with RAM in ram slots A1 or A2 or both, my computer will stay black-screened and restarts after about 30 seconds of trying to boot; it will continue doing this indefinitely. If, however, I put the ram in slots B1 or B2 or both, it will kick on perfectly fine. According to the Manual for the Gigabyte Z390 AORUS Pro WIFI, the optimal ram slots for dual channel / 2 modules are putting ram in slots B1/A1 or B2/A2. The problem being that it seems like ram slots A1/A2 aren't working for some reason. Does anybody have any ideas what would cause this? Or did I just get a faulty Motherboard? Again specs are below, thank you for the assist!

Could be a faulty motherboard.

A new motherboard shouldn't have a slot problem.

If this an old dusty motherboard i would recommend cleaning the slot with an electronic contact cleaner, worked everytime.

This is a straight out the box, just purchased motherboard.

Is there any way I could diagnose whether it's potentially something else, or get a definitive answer of the issue being the motherboard?

Also, does it make a huge difference if I just roll with the ram being in slots B1 & B2 rather than the optimal slots?

Yes, I know this lol. The issue though is that if I use either A1 or A2 ram slots, my computer will not boot.

This is not normal, you have a problem there then!

Plug only the cpu and 1 stick of ram, place it in 1 slot at a time untill you find the broken one.

If you absolutely sure about the broken slot, i suggest a replacement asap.

But i warn you, broken slot can brake the module.

There's not difference weather you put it on A or B, it would run the same.

Again, if you are sure that the MB is broken, get it replaced.

Copy, then in that case I'll press with using ram slots B1 & B2 for the time being and order a new motherboard. Hopefully that fixes the issue.

Thank you both for the help. If anyone else has some additional info to toss in, please do so as I will be monitoring this post closely until I order a new board!
