Help with Cisco Catalyst 4948 10GE

Insprill

Hello! I just bought an old 4948 10gig off ebay and i need some help. I was following the steps to reset the password and i made a mistake And had to restart, and now i just keep getting this:

******** The system will autoboot now **********

config-register  = 0x2142

Autobooting using BOOT variable specified file....

Could not find a valid file in BOOT environment variable. BOOT variable can be set from IOS. To find currently set Rom Monitor variables, please type 'set' command.

For help choosing a boot method, type 'confreg' command.

Put in 'confreg 0x2102' (without the 's) and then type boot.

It looks like no boot statement is set so it's just dropping into rommon. This will make it boot from the first file it sees and keep the configuration moving forward.

Once you boot the switch, go into config mode and put in 'config-register 0x2102' and save the config.

You need to be in EXEC mode to use configure terminal. Type en and it will get you where you need to be.

(It will then turn into Switch#)

Ah! I know what I forgot to mention.

You need to set a boot variable.

Once you boot back in do "dir" and then "conf t" and then "boot system flash:(image name)" and save that and reload.
