Decent camera?

What is the best camera I could get for taking photos of my hardware and stuff for under $300?

 

PS: I know nothing about photography, just using an iphone currently and want much higher quality photos.

once again I know nothing about cameras or photography, but I'm located in the united states. However, not regular point and shoot, one of those larger ones with decent zoom.

No. the t3i is $500. That is what I am recommending. I have it my self.

You could get a Sony NEX03 for $349. It has the same size sensor as a DSLR, zoom, etc.

Unless you plan on really learning how to use a DSLR to its full potential, I wouldn't bother investing in one.

Not hard really but to get the best shots you have to do more than just point and click. The Nikon I know has a sort of...beginners setting that walks you through everything right on the phone.

The D3200 is a better piece of kit, and they're the same price. Bigger sensor, lighter, higher megapixel, etc.

 

I got rid of my DSLR because I do a lot of close up shots, and a high end point and shoot was easier than screwing around with different lenses.

I also didn't have the time to learn how to make the most of it.

I think their great camera's and I personally own a T3i, the only major downside would be the size so a camera bag is a must have.  If you want a DSLR quality camera in a smaller package you should also take a look at Sony's NEX camera's, I haven't had any personaly use with them or done any extensive reaserch on them so I can't give you a suggested model right away, but they seem to have a good reputation.

t3i Usually coems with a 18-55 lense, but if you can find one with a 50mm 1.8f lense then that will be a better bundle.

The standard 18-55mm lens is the best one to use when you want to learn about photography. This is why it is included in the first place. The 50mm is a very nice lens. I have one myself but for for some who want to learn and not sure what type of photography they want to move onto it is rather restricted. The kit lens offers a much wider range of options and the 50mm is very cheap to add on at a later date.

You can get refurbished Canon S110 for 200$ and those are good little cameras.

A Panasonic GF5 with a kitlens is pretty nice. They are stunting with prices of that camera. So maybe you find a nice deal. Mine was 239 euro.
