SAS External HDD

Hello all,

I have opportunity to buy 4TB HDD but with SAS interface. Is there any doable solution to use SAS type HDD as an external HDD? I have found so far only one solution:

but the prise is no comment. I would like to use HDD as an external HDD to my nvidia shield TV. If there is no solution I wont buy this HDD.

Thank you so much guys!

I'm also going to have to say to get a SATA HDD or external USB drive.

The cost to get the SAS drive working is probably more than the drive is worth. You would need a NAS, SAS HBA card (won't work here since Nvidia shield), SAS to sata breakout cable (won't work here since motherboard has no SAS support), or a DAS (won't work here since no SAS connector on motherboard)

SAS is backwards compatible with SATA, however there is a mechanical interference on the connector where the 2nd port would normally be on SAS. If you're hellbent on using it, you'll need something like this adapter to get to SATA

Then from SATA to USB, keep in mind, you need something with add'l power for the 12V rail.

You're probably better off getting a Nearline SATA drive like this one.
