Astro A40 Microphone Issues

So I own the Astro A40's, and as of recently the microphone (when it does register, and actually work) releases a screeching sound that other people hear though party chat. I have tried unplugging it, and plugging it back in. I've tried cleaning off the contacts, tried a different controller. As well as tried plugging the controller in and not plugged in. Nothing has helped, I dont have the will to spend another $200+ on a headset that may or may not fail again in the future.

 

Everything else I love about it and havent had any complaints. Any idea on how to resolve this issue?
