CPU Place Holder

I’m looking to build a new computer and I really wanna take advantage of the deals going on right now and I don’t wanna wait until July for Ryzen 3000. I was curious if anyone thinks buying a 2600 as a filler and then either finding a way to return it or sell it in the used market is a viable option to upgrade to Zen 2. Another option is to just hold on to it until Christmas and then upgrade then. Thoughts?

Does it have to be a 2600? I mean there are cheaper Ryzens like a basic 1200/2200G or even the Athlons if all you need is a placeholder that doesn't do much.

If you need a place holder... get the cheapest CPU you can find for the socket, likely an Athlon or the 2200g.
