I didn't format the drives, i just uninstalled the i5 from device manager. I don't think it needs a BIOS update since all BIOS released for this motherboard only accept sandybridge processors that's why I got the 2600.

i somtimes had bsods when i didnt format aswell and changed cpu so try that first
