CPU usage spike

So I upgraded my i5 2500 to an i7 2600 and when I startup windows the usage spikes to 80-100 percent but goes down after a bit. It also spikes and sticks at 90-100 percent in some AAA games but if I Alt Tab out back to windows and come back it goes down to normal.

did u format when insert new cpu?  also its possible ur mobo might need a bios update for the 2600

I didn't format the drives, i just uninstalled the i5 from device manager. I don't think it needs a BIOS update since all BIOS released for this motherboard only accept sandybridge processors that's why I got the 2600.

i somtimes had bsods when i didnt format aswell and changed cpu so try that first
