I have an i5 6500
asus z170 pro gaming 16 gb
gtx 1080
m.2 ssd
psu i don't remember i'll have to pull it out and look

anyways
system went down the other night. thought it was a windows issues as i got stuck in a boot loop on win 10. Try for two days rewriting bootable usb with different ways with different sticks. tech support with microsoft. no luck. try linux boot to grub at least then failed to boot live cd.
both windows installer and linux got stuck on a boot splash screen.

also did bios updates didn't change anything.

with no luck software wise i moved to testing hardware. using memtest86 bootable usb drive. system would freeze. but decided to try using only 1 core when running the test. finally some success, the test finished with no errors. so, i ran the test over and over with each individual core enable. core 0 (completed), core 1(completed), core 2(completed), core 3 (froze). core 3 seems to have an issue. i disabled the core in the bios. system boots and runs just fine.

Any ideas of why this happen and a way to fix it?

oh it cooled with a 240 aio and was and now is oc to 4.2 ghz
