eGPU (Core X with 1080Ti) + Blade 15 (advanced) + Windows 1903 Performance problems, bottleneck?

I've got severe performance problems with my eGPU setup. At least it seems to me these problems are due to Windows 1903 or Windows in general. 

 

Iam running a 2018 Blade 15 (8750H, 16GB, 1070mq) with an Razer Core X equipped with a 1080 Ti (MSI). My Monitor is a Acer 27" 144Hz Gsync with 1440p. 

The cable I use is the Razer 2m active cable for freaking 90€ (here in Germany). The system is set up pretty fresh with Windows 10 Edu running 1903.

 

My Problem:

 

I knew about the performance drop of ~10-20%. But in Battlefield 5 I got like 60 FPS regardless of the setting + microstutter. Same in Battlefield 1. Metro is running like crap and every other demanding game too. 

I tried to undervolt but actually I got more performance without, strange. Cinebench with undervolt like 980 points, without around 1080 points. Heaven stays the same around 3300 points. Which is also not what Ive expected. 

I did a thermal repaste with Kryonaut and thermal pads (1mm, 1,5mm and 2mm) which helped little with the throttling. The CPU went from ~3,0 GHz to 3,2-3,3 GHz when running at 100%. But not at all in the 3,9 GHz area when gaming. 

Is this due to the 25w limitations? How can I disable these? The new Blade 15 got a "Creater" mode which does exactly this, but how can I achive this on my "old" Blade 15?

 

I am done with testing now. Its just frustrating. Spending all the money for sub 60 FPS performance in 1440p is pure madness. 

It seems the 8750H is a HUGE bottleneck for this setup. Its running allmost any time at 100% and the 1080Ti around 20-30%. Is this due to the TB3 limitations? I recently learned that TB3 on the Blade 15 is running at around 32 Gbps not 40.

 

Hoepfully there someone here who can help me or at least tell me: Thats it. You wont get more performance.

Is this number obtained on an Razer laptop with a 1080ti? Because I remember seeing this number on some Ailenware (fancy and crazy Dell) laptop using something like a 1070 or 1080, not sure. Razer's TB3 is connected to the chipset I think and not the CPU, while 1080ti is faster than 1070 and 1080. This means the performance drop for you should be a LOT bigger than 10-20%.

 

Also since you're on 1440p, there will be more bottleneck since there's more bandwidth reserved for displaying. Try use an external monitor.

 

As for slow CPU, I blame thermal throttling. Not just CPU core, also VRM.

SuperPi (v1.5 from Techpowerup, PI value output) 16K: 0.100s 1M: 8.255s 32M: 7m 45.93s
