so i have a pi zero w /w wide angle camera module

and now id like to use it as an actual webcam on my pc .

i figured motioneyeos would give me a ip camera style webstream

now i only need a piece of software that simulates a traditional webcam using a web adress source so i can tell these stupid programs to use it for lets say discord or skype or whatever

i read about a couple of tools now but none seem ideal

is anyone running an ip cam as webcam?

"You know it'll clock down as soon as it hits 40°C, right?" - "Yeah ... but it doesnt hit 40°C ... ever  😄"

When I was using my Raspberry Pi as a webcam with the camera module I used software called motion and it was awful. It capped out at 10 FPS with 640x480 resolution, it took decent stills (not as good as a 5 or 6 year old smartphone), but video was barely watchable. I was just recording though so you might have better luck streaming but IMO you'd be better off getting an old Android smartphone and using one of the many free IP camera apps to stream it to your PC if quality is a concern.

There was a LTT video on setting up Pi's as webcams that might help.
